Day 2

So it all started with a early morning rise to a good breakfast of pancakes and cereal at the hotel we are staying at. Later on we go to the Sears/Willis tower to go to sky deck which is literally 103 floors above the ground. In hind-site, it was only 1,353 feet,
and that's not a whole lot until you go to the sky box where you can step out into a glass box that looked like it was ready to crack as soon as you stepped out onto it. Many people panicked when they stepped out on it but only two kids in our group decided they wouldn't do it.
We go back down a little after we all have had the opportunity to step out. We soon after went to millennium park, it is the prettiest park even though the skating rink was shut down. Our lunch was waiting for us there in the park and the food was pretty good if I do say so myself, and that says a lot since I am a picky eater. After our groups finished we would to the bean that everyone comes out for. Everything that someone can tell you about how incredible the bean is nothing compared to what it is actually like. If you went underneath it and looked up you could see in every direction and every person around you at the time.
Many people in our groups went off to examine the amphitheater which is beyond huge, others went to go look at very unique art pieces.
The park was an adventure in itself that everyone in this group was happy to take. Now time for the thing this group came here for, the band competition. We kick our group off with a bang when the jazz band takes the stage and plays three pieces very beautifully everyone did their parts where they needed to, as soon as they finished a judge came up to critique them and help them for the future. He only had two critiques which was balance and solos and how they should be brought out more.

After they go we move onto the percussion ensemble who only played one piece and got straight up praise for the only have had one year in an official class, but they stilled got critiqued by a judge who said that the balance was the main issue that was brought up between them.

Last but not least was the concert band that played three pieces, they had some issues here and there but it was minor as they would then make up for it later. The judge then came up to us and said that we just mainly had issues with timing and not paying attention to the band director. We ended the day at the Rainforest Cafe which was very interesting with the animals and the thunderstorms that would happen regularly throughout the dinner.  - Dillon Cullin, 12th grade
